English speaking osteopath for sports people Nice – Roquefort les Pins
Sport is a great way to keep active, feel good and contribute to your healthy lifestyle.
Sports injuries, whether acute or chronic, are common with people practicing sports. In the event of a severe sports injury such as fractures, joint subluxation and dislocation, or tendon rupture osteopathic treatment is not needed until the body has healed. For these types of injuries it is always best to consult your GP to assess the severity of the injury using medical imagery.
Common types of sports injuries which osteopaths encounter on a daily basis are ligament sprains, muscle strain, Achilles tendonitis, Iliotibial band friction, plantar fasciitis, piriformis syndrome, rotator cuff tendonitis, tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow. These conditions are mostly a result of overuse and osteopathic treatment will aim to reorganise and rebalance tension in the local musculoskeletal tissues. More importantly, the osteopath will treat the whole body looking for structural compensation patterns arising from other traumas, posture which may have compromised the integrity and function of the musculoskeletal system.
Life is movement, at Osteo-Centre we will try to help you get back to your sport as quickly and safely as possible. Advice on diet, specific functional exercise, stretches and strengthening exercises may also be given. At Osteo-centre we are trained in K-taping methods and tape may be used as part of the overall treatment.
When to consult
It is recommended to consult an osteopath as soon as symptoms appear.
It is also advisable to have a regular osteopathic assessment (2-3 times a year) for prevention and to avoid the accumulation of tensions and trigger pain. The osteopathic assessment involves the verification of posture; and treatment to address the stresses and strains of your daily life and activities with the aim of improving your quality of life. It is also advisable to have an osteopathic assessment before to better prepare your body for the competition and after to better recuperate.
